Chewing

Chewing the first part of a meal or snack forces the food between teeth and deep inside pits and fissures on chewing surfaces, displacing previously trapped food and any carbohydrate like sugar is changed to acid by resident plaque bacteria.

Over 90% of cavities in children occur inside grooves on chewing surfaces where Recaldent, saliva, mouth wash, brushing and fluoride have poor or no access as seen in Supertooth’s glass model of a fissure.

Also how brushing cannot reach and how chewing fibre like celery after eating, forces saliva between teeth and inside grooves to neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth.

Make a glass model and put your own version on YouTube, like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRca_whVI4Y&layer_token=f816c25d718e437b

Chewing sugar free products like nuts or cheese before eating, helps block meals or snacks being trapped while eating as seen with the glass model or by placing a spoon of sugar, icing sugar or flour in the bottom of a glass or test tube, add a spoon of instant coffee and water and note the coffee cannot get through the first teaspoon.
